Lancaster & District Canoe Club

WHO AND WHERE ARE WE

We are a friendly club with plenty of junior members, based on the River Lune, operating from the 33rd Scout HQ at Halton. This gives direct access to the river. The building has changing rooms and toilets. The 33rd Scout Hut is very close to the historic city of Lancaster. In the Summer we run 1,2 and 3 Star Courses on the flat water. In the winter there is more of an emphasis on the moving water paddling. We also organise pool sessions at the local pool, this gives our members a chance to practice skills in warm water!

OUR HISTORY

The club was founded in 1984 by a small group of canoeists who had discovered other Lancaster paddlers whilst exploring nearby rivers. From this small band of enthusiastic paddlers the club has grown to its current membership of over 70 (which includes a number of qualified instructors) and in the process introduced canoeing to hundreds of local people.
