INTRODUCTION TO PADDLESPORT 2010 Lancaster and District Canoe Club is a family club supported by parents, trained coaches, and volunteers. We are now recruiting to our one star course for people new to canoeing and kayaking. £30 for juniors (under 18) £40 for adults £99 for a family of four
This includes all equipment except for personal clothing. The
induction will take place on Thursday 22nd April 7pm at the 33rd Scout
HQ Halton, and will include kit and boat allocation - payment will be
required. Girls or boys under 11 will need the support of a
parent/guardian. The course will include six weeks coaching on
the River Lune on Thursday nights beginning 29th April. This is a flexible
course that can be delivered over a longer period to suit individual
needs for example pre-booked holidays etc. The one star assessment will
take place when you are ready. You will have the chance to try out our
range of canoes including playboats, open canoes, and sea kayaks. Further

FIRST AID COURSE Any members interested in doing the first aid course, please email jgeddes@gmx.co.uk. This is an excellent qualification for anyone taking part in paddlesport and or looking to going onto you 4 Star Leader/UKCC Level 1 training.
NEW 4 STAR KAYAK AWARD (Higher than the old award) Pre-requisites: • First aid award (minimum 8hrs training including CPR) - see course above • Previous experience: • Provide evidence of 12 river trips (minimum 4 hours duration) in four different locations. This experience must include at least: • 6 grade 3 river trips as a member of a group • 6 grade 2-3 river trips as an assistant leader • 4 Star Training: • BCU White Water Safety and Rescue Training Course • Candidates must be 16 or over at the time of assessment. • Candidates under the age of 18 can take the award, but cannot be deemed responsible for leadership by law until they turn 18, and must hold a current first aid award and have BCU coaching membership or private insurance.

CLOTHING LIST FOR KAYAKING * Trainers or plimsolls (not sandals or boots) * T Shirt, Sweatshirt, Jumpers (several thin layers are warmer) * Jogging bottoms (not Jeans) * Change of clothing (if you come already dressed for kayaking that is) * Towel * If glasses are worn, they must be securely fitted and tied * Old waterproof top or cagoule (windproof / waterproof) * Swimwear
Drink * A warm drink may be welcomed after you get changed
